Understand the people first
Before the itinerary or the wording, I listen. Who is this really for, and what do they need the day to feel like?
I’m Kathy Marcelline. My career has focused on connecting people. Whether I’m guiding visitors through Toronto or standing with a couple on their wedding day, the work is the same at heart: pay attention to the people in front of me, and create memories that fit them.
Toronto is a city best understood through the people who live in it and the people who come to see it. Over the years I’ve spent guiding groups, welcoming visitors and hosting events, I’ve learned that a good day is rarely about covering the most ground. It’s about reading the group, finding what matters to them, and leading with it.
That same instinct is what drew me to officiating. A wedding isn’t a checklist either — it’s two people and a story. Guided tours and ceremonies might look like different lines of work, but they come from the same place for me: a passion for connecting and bringing people together, and being genuinely present while I do it.

Whether it’s a city or a couple, the good version is the honest one. I’d rather be authentic than impressive.
The best part of this work is connection — between visitors and a place, between partners, between people who might not otherwise meet.
